Check Plagarism @Viper

It is a good practice to always check the level of plagiarism of your paper in case you forgot that there are some sentence that you copy paste without rephrase it. Before this LS used Turnitin but because it is a paid service than LS turn to Viper. LS used it to check student work. So far so good. You can try it out by download it here: Click this link

Ginger - Correct Your Grammar

LS has tried a few software to help in correcting grammar. One of the best so far is Ginger.

 

 

 

Ginger can be used in Windows, Word and Android. It can help you in correcting your grammar and rephrase the sentences. You can try it using the free version. Download it here!!

Workshop on literature review using ATLAS.ti

Semalam LS attend workshop di Wisma RnD. Workshop on literature review using ATLAS.ti namanya. Alhamdullilah banyak ilmu yang dipelajari. Atlas.ti ni asalnya banyak digunakan untuk analisis qualitative data tapi ia juga sangat berguna untuk litrerature review (LR). Penggunaanya dapat membantu mempercepatkan proses penyediaan LR kita. Bukan tolong buat tau, tolong permudahkan saja :)

Atlas.Ti Workshop

Last week I attended Atlast.Ti workshop at UIAM. The workshop is conducted by Kak Zie. Alhamdullilah, I learn a new technique that can be apply in conducting literature review. Tutorial - Survey Monkey

 

Survey Monkey is one of popular survey tool in the market. It is easy to use and provide a complete facilities to conduct a survey online.

We can choose the plan as below. If your survey is very short (10 questions) and only need less than 100 responses, you can try the basic plan. You can also used this plan for your pilot/testing phase. Then, for the real survey, you can select the second plan. It's only RM49 per month. I thinks its quite affordable - considering the facilities provided by Survey Monkey. If you plan your data collecting carefully, you only might need two months for collecting data.

 

Below is my account. All my survey is listed in the left with the summary of the data collection updates.

How to start a survey? Just click +Create Survey (on your right) then you will be directed to the below page. Add your survey title and choose the category.

For example, I have a survey name Testing. Then I choose the theme for the survey and upload a logo - to make it look more professional.

Below is the look of my survey. In Page 1, I choose Add Text to put the introduction part.

 

Copy paste your introduction part here.

 

Then, in Page 2, you can start add your questions. You can choose to put all questions in one page or you can separate them to a few pages. My suggestion - put it in separate pages.

 

For example:

Page 1: Introduction 

Page 2: Demographic

Page 3: and so on..

 

Below are the steps to add question:

Click +Add Question. Insert question detail. You can choose type of question and the display format. Click Require an answer to this question if you don't want respondent to leave that question blank.

Save and Add Next Question

If you want to move the question to other order or Page, click Move. Then click Move Question Here (in the section that you want to move the question).

  

That's all. You can add Thank You page by using the same step as Introduction page. Below is the example of 1 page survey. If you have many pages, it will asked you to click Next button.

Paraphrase Your Paragraph As Easy As 1,2,3

Sometimes we are having a hard time to paraphrase the paragraph. We need to paraphrase our paragraph especially if we want to publish part of our thesis as a journal. This is one of the software that LS used: CLICK HERE.

Just copy paste the paragraph in the box. Click figure to see the larger view.

You can choose one of the recommendation from the tools

 

Click the orange button and the new paragraph will appear in the box. You can try to rephrase it for a few times to get a better paragraph.

Jorte

Semalam LS sibuk google personal organizer untuk install kat HP. Setelah install dan try a few apps LS buat keputusan nak try Jorte. Jorte ni personal organizer application. Konon nak paperless. Tak nak guna organizer biasa la ni.

 

Kelebihan Jorte ni boleh update dengan Google calendar. Senang sikit boleh view schedule dan add task masa kat luar or sambil bergolek dengan anak-anak. Nanti LS review best ke tak. So far macam ok. LS dah add task tuk daily. Ehem ni semangat sebab dah gabra keje tinggal lama :P.  Nak cuba boleh install kat Play Store sini.

 

 

Back up your data - using Dropbox

Selalu memang save fail (gambar atau fail kerja) di external hard disk atau pen drive. Tapi banyak je masalah seperti

• Lepas buat kerja, tertinggal external hard disk atau pen drive di PC lab
• Bila back up, sekali hilang atau rosak terus menangis tak berlagu
• Bila nak guna - tertinggal pula di beg lain atau di rumah

Sekarang memang LS dah jarang pakai external hard disk atau pen drive untuk kerja. Habis tu guna apa? Gunalah DropBox. Apa benda tu? Kat DropBox ni, kita boleh simpan fail atau folder gambar, kerja dan lagu secara online.

 

Kalau online, if Internet down macam mana? Takpe sebab software die kita boleh download kat laptop di rumah dan juga PC di ofis. So bila kita edit/update/insert fail di salah satu folder di rumah atau ofis. Dia akan update semua fail di kesemua tempat. Contohnya, bila Ibu pergi lab. Ibu buka je folder DropBox kat PC lab dan buat kerja dari situ. Bila nak balik, save je macam biasa. Nanti dia akan automatik update dan save di laptop rumah sekali.

Satu lagi, if tiba-tiba guna pc di tempat lain. Just buka DropBox webpage dan kita boleh je access fail secara online - macam gambar di atas. Haa mudah bukan? So apa lagi register la DropBox hari ni. Free je pun. Untuk free account dapat dalam 2GB. If ikut arahan bawah ni boleh dapat extra 250MB.

 

Cara nak join

1. Klik DropBox
2. Register

3. Download DropBox - ni untuk install pada PC atau laptop.

4. Boleh ikut step Get started - If boleh buat sampai step 4 maka dapat free lagi 250MB

Nak banyak lagi space - boleh invite kekawan lain pula. Selain itu - anda boleh share file dalam DropBoxni dengan keluarga atau kawan-kawan. Mudahkan? :P

Things To Do - Remember The Milk

I always have things to do list. Usually I just use the sticky note. It does works for me. The problem is the sticky note sometimes misplaced and sometimes my list is longer. I then turn to usual paper note. Last week, I found an online 'things to do' web. It is so cool. The link is http://www.rememberthemilk.com/. 

We can list out our task based on project (work, personal, blog, study, publication). We can set the due date (they will send email to us to remind us) and after completed the task we can just click it. they also provides a lot of services to go together with the application.

For me, the best thing is it can integrate with gmail. So now I can see my things to do every time I open my gmail. I love it.
